- What is a Beer Tasting?
A Beer Tasting is a deliciously entertaining experience lasting about 2 to 3 hours that is designed to celebrate the wonderful world of beer! Attendants will taste specially selected beers and experience everything they wanted to know about beer through a guided tasting and seminar. Your guests will not only taste some of the most delicious beers produced, but they will learn about beer terminology, history, folklore, the brewing process and so much more! Attendants will also be able to view samples of various brewing ingredients from ancient and modern times including hops, barley and many herbs. A Beer Menu and Scoring Sheet will be provided to everyone for their tasting notes and reviews. Additionally, each guest will be able to take home an ‘Introduction to Beer’ booklet with lots of great reference information including flavor descriptions, style notes and a judging guide.
- What does the Beer Tasting Service include?
As part of our services, we will guide you in all planning necessary for your Beer Tasting Event. We will develop a beer menu specifically for you that will take in many considerations including your own ideas and your budget. Depending on the particular needs of your event, we will offer our professional guidance in developing beer and food pairings, locating a venue, glassware selection, audio/video requirements and general event planning services. After creating a customized event for you, we will assist you in your beer purchase and hand-select the best and freshest products for your Beer Tasting. On the day of the event, we will conduct an entertaining and enlightening beer experience that will treat all your senses and change the way you look at beer! All presentation materials, display pieces and literature used during the event are included in the Beer Tasting Service.
- How much are Beer Tasting Services?
The Brühaus customizes each Beer Tasting and can provide an estimate based on the type of event you would like to create. Whether you would like to have a casual Beer Tasting party with a few of your friends or a corporate function with 100 elite clients, we have the service to meet your needs and would be happy to a provide a fast and free estimate. Beer Tasting Service Fees are payable to the Brühaus when all services are rendered and a non-refundable Booking Fee may be required which will be applied to the final payment.
- What beers are selected for the Beer Tasting?
The Brühaus will create a tailored beer menu just for your event! We will assemble a mouth-watering selection of ales and lagers with the highest possible quality to fit your budget. The types of beers selected will be determined by many factors such as the theme of the event, your preferences, whether there will be food present and so on. You can choose from a wide variety of themes for the Beer Tasting event such as ‘Classic Styles of the World’, ‘American Microbrews’ or ‘Beers of Ancient Europe’. Choose one of our themes or create your own…the possibilities are limitless!
- Who supplies the beer for the Beer Tasting?
After developing your beer menu, we will accompany you at the time of your beer purchase and hand-select the beer for the tasting. We have worked with many excellent beer retailers, brewers and distributors over the years and would be happy to recommend one of them to you. At this time, we will guide you on how to best store the beer until your event to keep it at its peak condition.
- How much will the beer cost?
The price of beer can vary dramatically and we will design a beer menu with the highest quality brands to fit your budget. Your beer costs can be anywhere from $3.00 to $12.00 per guest. Beers in the lower price range will include quality American brands and economical imports and those in the higher range will reflect some of the finest beers produced around the globe. Your beer expense is payable to the vendor at the time of purchase.
- Where does the Beer Tasting take place?
A Beer Tasting can take place in your own home, at a pub, restaurant or in a banquet hall. The location of the event is wherever you would like to have it and that will best accommodate your guests. If you are in need of a venue for a large event, we will be happy to recommend an establishment for you. The ideal location for a Beer Tasting should have a comfortable and well-lit atmosphere. Additionally, there should be enough seating and table space for each guest to rest several sample glasses and their reading materials.
- What will I need to provide for the Beer Tasting?
You may want to provide your guests with pitchers of water to drink and a ‘dump bucket’ for rinsing glasses. Paper towels and napkins should be easily accessible if guests need them. If you have decided to incorporate food into the event then you will need to supply all food items and service items (plates, serving ware, utensils, etc.). At the time of the beer tasting, the beer needs to be easily accessible in a refrigerator, cooler or ice bins. Lastly, enough plastic cups, wine glasses or beverage containers must be provided for all the beer samples and all the guests. As always, we are happy to either supply you with these products or recommend where to obtain them.
- In what cities or states do you conduct Beer Tasting Events?
The Brühaus is based in Rochester, NY where it serves all of Western New York State including Buffalo, Syracuse and the Southern Tier. We are happy to offer our services outside of New York State, throughout the United States and in Canada. Travel considerations will be included in your Beer Tasting Service Fees.
- Does everyone need to be atleast 21 in order to participate in the Beer Tasting?
Absolutely. All local laws regarding alcohol consumption must be abided by during a Beer Tasting Event. It is the responsibility of you, our client, the host of the Beer Tasting Event, to make sure that all guests consuming alcohol are of legal drinking age.
- Are there any special considerations or permits required to have a Beer Tasting?
Since most Beer Tasting functions are private, you do not need a permit to provide your guests with alcoholic beverages. However, if you would like to hold a public Beer Tasting event, then you will need to obtain all necessary permits required to do so as well as have the proper license from the New York State Liquor Authority to serve alcohol. We will be happy to assist you in obtaining all the necessary permits you need. Whether the Beer Tasting event is private or public, you are ultimately responsible for serving alcoholic beverages to your guests and assume the liabilities involved in doing so.
